"We can't have a better company behind us."
Andrew Hines has emerged from a motorcycle racing family rich in accomplishments at a tender age and snatched a championship from a highly competitive field of two-wheel rockets on smooth drag strips in NHRA POWERade turf. Vance & Hines has a long successful metric history, but recent years in NHRA racing have produced wins that scream to a different tune. The Screamin' Eagle hierarchy at Harley-Davidson brings a lofty voice to racing via the Hines' guidance much like the swift bird that defines the USA.
Screamn' Eagle Racing has soared to incredible heights. It's our task to bring words and images from the best rocket-riders at ground level to fans. We believe it takes an ear to the ground to hear the right vibrations that result in record speed - but not your ears. You don't have to stoop to read, hear or see what takes two fast wheels and one brave rider down a track at speeds that push 200 mph causing elapsed times that challenge seven seconds.
All you need to do is scroll to the images and words of those that produce big speed. Please don't attempt this kind of speed at home or near home. Get to a local or distant sanctioned drag strip to see, smell and feel the speed - sense real speed fever personally. Real speed is never on any street. Seek real speed where competition tests all. Seek a sanctioned track. Time: Preseason 2005
Dwight asked Andrew Hines: "We did some testing early last week and we found some developing things. We built two brand new bikes this year and the first time we went down the track they were faster than either bike we had last year. It's going to be an awesome year. It's going to be tough with all the competitors with the new Buells and all the other Suzuki guys are going to step up their program. We've been working real hard at the shop all winter long and we're just going to go with what we have now and see what we can do the first race." "It really gave me a boost in confidence. It really let me know that I can do this. I want to do this for a long time. Just having the backing with my dad and my brother and the whole team behind us. It makes it that much easier to hopefully repeat this championship. "
"I'd like to do this for as long as I can. After that, hopefully take over the family business eventually and work with my dad and my brother as long as I can. It's all I could hope for." "Matt's pretty happy where he's at right now being the tuner. He's gaining some weight and he likes being in the background. He's happy we won the championship and there's no way we could have done it without him. "The best thing of all it was my first event win ever, my first No. 1 qualifier ever. And my girlfriend went to college here. "
"They've backed us 100 percent for the last four years when they started the program. For them to continue at this point of the game as a given is just amazing. We can't have a better company behind us." |
