"That's a rarity right there."

A Zoomster question from Gary Larsen:

When you have a game plan when you go into to a race and you not where you want to be at any point, do you have another plan or do you get creative?

"You have to do a little of both. I've sat down and I know some crew chiefs will sit down on Saturday night and say, hey. This is what we are going to do. We're going to do this. I do a little bit of that myself, but you have to come off the hip so much during a race, because you never know if your car is going to be good in the beginning. You hope it is. Or is it going to be not as good and you're going to have to lose some spots? "

"You constantly have to adjust to maintain your track position or create some track position. It depends on how your car is running. You take a lot in consideration. If you have a car that's running bad, you have to fix the car to get it to run good. If you're fortunate to have a car that's running good, you just need track position and your options are open a little more. I think it's very rare that a crew chief goes into a race and says, yup. That's like I planned it on Saturday night. That's a rarity right there.
