Lancaster's Barbecue may not be on the main road, Highway 150, in "Race City USA" Mooresville. N.C., but it is on the high road to theme cuisine. Theme: NASCAR memorabilia. Cuisine: scrumptious barbecue. The abundant memorabilia such as hoods on the ceiling, authentic driver uniforms in glass cases, and numerous racing signs could be a stand-alone museum; however the food in Jeff Lancaster's restaurant wouldn't stand alone long before someone devoured it.

Official Stock Car Capital of the World

Last year we met the "Tide Guy" (Show Car Driver) Terry Lynch on the road to Darlington Raceway, and he told us to go to Mooresville, N.C. and Lancaster's Barbecue. Lynch continues to bring NASCAR and the Tide show car to many corners in the US.

"The area around Mooresville, N.C. is very nice as well as the people who live and work there," Lynch said. "Jeff (the owner of Lancaster's) is all about racing and obviously loves the sport. Not to mention he has fantastic food!"

Lancaster's has four levels, 10,000 square feet of racing memorabilia, 65' bar, and a school bus parked inside for relaxed dining.

Great Food, Great Atmosphere, Great Service.

Note: The fried chicken breast and barbecue pork sandwich exceeded our expectations and made for happy stomachs.

From I-77 Take Exit 36. Go East on Highway 150. Look for billboard. Go through next light. Take first left (Reinhardt Road) beside Bojangles. Then proceed 300 yards. Lancaster's is on the right.
