Story and photos by Dwight Drum Like all good organizations success is often a measure of team members. The NASCAR Busch Series is a training ground for NASCAR NEXTEL Cup as well as an exciting show of stock car prowess and competition. Within our "Quick Talk" focus Zoomster.com guides you through the select thoughts of many NBS drivers.
No one can better explain what it's like to be a part of this grand series than the veterans, sophomores and rookies who compete for points on 35 race days all across the U.S. Though some of their selected words may be brief, their meaning has great weight and shows in part why their work is so popular.
Time: Early 2006 Dwight asked Reed Sorenson and Denny Hamlin Reed Sorenson "I like racing every weekend, because I'm not used to it. Before I got in NASCAR, we usually had a couple weeks off between each race. To get to race each weekend in a different area of the country is cool."
"Going fast. Getting and having some action and doing a job for them to make sure they enjoy it." You're really not a rookie and yet you are moving up fast to a new rookie status. Can you comment on how you feel about that? "I feel like I'm still fairly new to this sport. Cup and Busch levels are way over the top of anything I've ever run before. I still feel like I'm a rookie. I still feel like I have a lot to learn. I don't mind the trait so much. I've gotten used to it."
"Just a lot of time away from home, especially running both. You've got twice the sponsor obligations. Twice everything. It's really tough. The racing part of it is not too hard."
