"I've been overwhelmed ever since."

A Zoomster question from Gary Larsen

When did you realize that you could be a race car driver?

"I don't know that I have realized it yet. (Laughs) I've been racing since I was seven years old. I'm 28 now so that's 21 years behind the wheel in some type of racing. You know how kids are. We always have our heroes growing up and wishes about what we want to be. You always wish you'll be a race car driver…or I did growing up, because my brother did it and I had three uncles that did it. My dad did it. I come from a racing family.

"I think I realized I could do it for a living was in 1995. I started getting calls from Busch teams. They were going to give me a chance to do this or do that and it seemed like, wow, I am in the right situation or position to do this as a professional. It kind of hit me all one day and I was like a kid in a candy store. So excited. Wow. I can't believe you can do this for a living and fun doing it. I was 20 then and it kind of hit from both sides and I've been overwhelmed ever since.
